Ecologist for Evening/Dusk Bat Surveys

About Us:
GS2 are proud to be representing a leading environmental consultancy committed to preserving and enhancing biodiversity within our infrastructure projects. As part of the ongoing efforts to assess and protect bat populations, we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Ecologist to join the team for dusk bat surveys.

Job Description:
As an Ecologist, you will be responsible for conducting bat surveys under bridges and underpasses across the highways network. Your primary focus will be to identify and record bat activity to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and contribute to our conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct evening and dusk bat surveys from 7 PM to midnight.
- Utilise bat detectors and other survey equipment to identify bat species and activity.
- Record and report findings accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure survey data is integrated into environmental assessments.
- Follow health and safety protocols while working in various outdoor environments.

Requirements:
- Previous experience in conducting bat surveys is essential.
- A bat license is not required but would be considered advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of bat ecology and identification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent observational and recording skills.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience with bat survey equipment and software.
- Understanding of environmental regulations related to bat conservation.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
