A rare opportunity has arisen for a Principal Building Physics Consultant to join a forward-thinking sustainability consultancy in Bristol. You’ll take a lead role in delivering integrated, performance-led design strategies across a range of ambitious projects, from early-stage concept work to post-occupancy optimisation.

The successful Principal Building Physics Consultant will:- Lead delivery of sustainable and low-carbon design advice across all RIBA stages.
- Deliver and review building performance modelling – including thermal comfort, daylight, natural ventilation, and energy (TM52, TM59, BB101, Part L).
- Produce planning support documentation, detailed design reports, and fee proposals.
- Collaborate across disciplines, especially with acoustics and M&E teams.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to service development.
- Play an active role in business development, client relationships and design workshops.
What we’re looking for:- A degree (or equivalent) in environmental design, building services, or a related field.
- Proficiency in building performance tools such as IES or TAS.
- Solid understanding of UK sustainability and compliance frameworks (Part L, TM52, TM59).
- Experience in whole-life carbon and LCA reporting.
- Proven consultancy experience managing projects from concept to delivery.
- Clear communication skills and commercial awareness.
- A collaborative, ideas-driven mindset.
